Troubleshooting Patch Adhesion Issues

While rare, if your patch isn’t sticking properly, it’s usually due to insufficient heat. Here’s how to ensure the best adhesion:

  1. Check the Iron Temperature
    • The iron needs to be very hot. A quick test: flick a few drops of water onto the iron’s surface. If the water sticks or sizzles slowly, the iron isn’t hot enough. The water should immediately bounce off.
    • Some irons have an automatic shutoff for safety. If yours has timed out, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions to reset it.
  2. Iron Both Sides for Stronger Bonding
    • For the best adhesion, iron both the fabric side of the patch and the fabric side of the jeans.
    • Use a firm surface like an ironing board or another hard, heat-resistant surface to help press the adhesive deeper into the fabric.

Solution: Re-Iron the Patch

  • Heat the iron for a few minutes and reapply it according to the original instructions.
  • If the patch has started to peel, don’t worry—it can be easily reattached.
  • Place the iron on the patch for 10 to 15 seconds, then use the tip of the iron to press down firmly for extra adhesion.
  • Iron both sides of the fabric for the best results.
  • Allow the clothing to cool completely before wearing to ensure a strong bond.

Following these steps should prevent the issue from happening again!
